Is it ruining your skin or healing it?…
Sometimes we can think that doing certain things are small and won’t have any affect on our body, on our skin, or not doing somethings will not damage our skin, it can be very sneaky and we jest not aware to it, or simply did not know, and that’s totally fine! We are here to learn and grow and improve, and in this space im aiming to help you understand the things you should do or avoid in your beautiful skin journey.
Your skin is your body’s first line of defense from environmental stressors, pollution, the weather, and everything in between. So while you might think of your outer layer as overly sensitive, it’s constantly being tested by every little thing it comes into contact with.
So many factors can impact the state of your skin, especially in everyday life,
You might not realize that some of your daily activities are the top
things that are ruining your skin. When it comes to beauty, your skin
should be your number one priority. After all, no amount of #makeup
will completely cover up your acne and dry patches. There are thousands
of skin products on store shelves promising to rejuvenate your skin and
bring it back to life, but we all know most of the claims have no
basis.
So why not just be proactive and instead minimize any actions
that might cause skin problems in the first place?
- Not applying / reapplying SPF
90% of all skin damages caused by the sun. It’s a simple math….from hyperpigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, acne, dullness and of course, skin cancer.
If you listened to me enough time you know im the preach of spf 🙂 this is anti aging at its best, and i heard all the excuses possible ( its not sunny, its too much, i don’t get burned etc etc), no excuses- wear your SPF as it your job and know that you are already doing an amazing act of self love and care just by doing this!
Now, you applied your spf in the morning (generously…)? AMAZING, but, you need to reapply it every about two hours, depends where you spend your day to keep having the protection (specially if you’re outside running around, by the beach, active and sweaty:)
How to reapply your SPF?
- If you don’t wear makeup, you can simply apply the cream again as before.
- If you do wear makeup, i will share some ways to do it over makeup without ruining it:
1 – use a sponge, like a beauty blender, and gently tap the spf on your skin without dragging it
2- use spf spray
3- powders, im not a fan of but some people love them, anyway, they can not be your main spf!
2.Not really removing makeup or dirt from your day
That’s simply a highway to fast aging! During the day your skin is being exposed to so much from the environment, and wearing make up
No matter how many times you’ve been told to wash off all your makeup before bed, sometimes you just can’t seem to make it happen… We’ve all been there before.
key things to remember about leaving your makeup on:
- Your Pores Will Become Clogged and You Will Breakout
- Your Complexion Will Appear Dull
- Your Skin Will Look Older
- Your Skin Will Look and Feel Dry
- Your Skin Will Become Irritated
- You Risk Eye Infection
So please, double cleanse your skin, you will thank yourself for giving yourself these few minutes of care!
3)Too many actives
when it comes to skin care, it’s easy to go overboard. And by overboard, I mean trying to fit all of the exciting skincare products like retinol and vitamin C and AHAs in one routine.
Skin often prefers the less is more approach – even more so when using products that contain active ingredients.
While too many actives may not necessarily be a bad thing, I know from being a skin therapist that the types of active products being used together and how often can be problematic for your face.
The more irritating active ingredients you put on your skin, the more you could be disrupting your skin barrier, which can lead to irritation, redness, flaking, swelling, and burning. “The more ingredients you are using, the more likely you will encounter something you are extra sensitive or allergic to,
So, i suggest to take it slower, get some advice on which actives you can and should use and give your skin the time to work with each one instead of bumping it with all together!
4) Dump towel left in the bathroom
Using a separate towel for your face is a must, but, you want to think what happens to that towels in between uses- if you leave it in the bathroom, half dumb, wet and not dry it out it may get bacterie on it and cause damage to your skin. So i suggest dry it outside the shower and try to change it often
5) Creating routine based on trends and not on your skin needs
The beauty industry thrives on trends. Every year, we’re bombarded with buzzwords, miracle ingredients, and innovative tools, all promising to transform our skin overnight. But how many of these trends are genuinely beneficial for your skin, and how many are simply marketing ploys designed to drive consumption?
You should never let “tik tok” or trendy products be your guide, always get a professional advice or do your own research.
So many times i have clients coming to me (mostly teeners but not only) with irritations and burns from products they saw someone uses on Tik Tok…maybe there are good things there but for my opinion, please use your research and ask me!
6) Thinking that facials are just a luxury
If you were to tell your dentist that you were going to start skipping your annual cleanings, because you were already brushing at home, he might be so flabbergasted that he couldn’t even begin to tell you how wrong that line of thinking was.
Facials are actually very similar to dental cleanings, in the sense that they provide a periodic deep cleaning that you simply cannot replicate at home. While your nightly face cleaning routine certainly removes surface-level dirt and grime, it doesn’t get deep into the pores.
When you see someone with really amazing skin, most likely they are visiting their esthetician regularly. Nothing can go deep as a facial- not only with cleaning but with hydrating, repairing, nourishing etc
In today’s fast-paced world, self-care is often seen as an indulgence rather than a necessity. However, when it comes to skincare, monthly facials are far from being just a luxury. They play a crucial role in maintaining healthy, radiant skin and preventing long-term damage.
our skin goes through constant changes due to environmental stressors, aging, and hormonal fluctuations. Monthly facials work by:
- Boosting Cell Turnover
- Deep Cleansing –
- Hydration & Nourishment
- Enhancing Circulation –
- Slowing the Aging Process –
- Preventing acne and breakouts
- Customized to your own skin needs
- And not to forget- super relaxing! For me, my goal is that you will not only look beautiful but feel it, in your own skin, feel well rested and safe in your body.
7) Testing new products too quickly
I get it! I also love skincare- i love creating new formulas and trying new products or devices but you have to do it slow: in order to actually know if that product or device has an effect on your skin (good or bad) you need to test it for about 4 weeks (unless you get immediate reaction or allergy) to see the results and not change to the new one every week.
Also, trying few completely new products to you won’t allow you to understand which one actually works for you and which not.
So, introduce one new product to your routine first, see how it goes, if you see any changes and if you like it, give it time and then you can add.
Our skin needs to work with each product and we don’t want to overload and irritate it:)
I hope this helped you a bit and gave you the desire to take your skincare routine to another level and stay away from what ruining your skin! I am here for any question and advice,
Nirit
And i’ll see you in the salon for your well deserved treatment of beauty and joy!
